How does Express Entry Work?
Express Entry manages applications for three economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
Through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) provinces and territories can also employ applicants from the Express Entry pool to satisfy local labour market requirements.

Benefits of being a Canadian Permanent Resident or Citizen:
1) Family Benefits: Employment Insurance maternity benefits are offered to mothers who cannot work because they are pregnant or have recently given birth to a child. There is a maximum of 15 weeks of maternity advantages for Employment Insurance. Benefits can be paid as early as 12 weeks before the expected birth date, up to 17 weeks after the actual birth date.
- Standard parental benefits can be rewarded for a maximum of 35 weeks and must be claim within a 52 week period (12 months) after the week the child was born. Parents can share normal parental advantages over these 35 weeks.
- Extended parental benefits can be paid for a maximum of 61 weeks and must be claimed within a 78-week period (18 months) after the week the child was born. 2) Employment Benefits:
- Regular Benefits: Employment Insurance (EI) provides standard benefits to those who lose their jobs through no fault of their own (for example, due to shortage of work, seasonal or mass lay-offs).
- Sickness Benefits: The Employment Insurance (EI) program offers temporary financial assistance to unemployed workers. This assistance includes providing sickness benefits to citizens incapable to work because of injury, sickness or quarantine. You may be suitable to obtain EI sickness advantages up to a maximum of 15 weeks.
- Compassionate care Benefits: sympathetic care benefits are Employment Insurance (EI) benefits paid to people who include to be away from work temporarily to give care or support to a family member who is seriously ill and who has a large risk of death. Eligible individuals may receive a maximum of 26 weeks of compassionate care advantages.
- The Family Caregiver Benefits: The Family Caregiver Benefit for Children (the Benefit) allows eligible caregivers to receive up to 35 weeks of financial assistance to provide care or support to a critically ill or injured child.

4) Self-employed: Self-employed Canadians can access Employment Insurance (EI) special benefits by entering into an agreement, or registering, with the Canada Employment Insurance Commission. Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals can start the process under Federal Skilled Worker Program are determining whether or not they meet the minimum requirements of the program of six selection factor points, score 67 points or higher, you may qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program out of 100 points. The minimum requirements are:
- Age between 18-46 Yrs
- Foreign Credential with minimum Bachelor’s Degree, or Canadian educational credential,

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
The Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) is a continuous Canadian residence path for foreign citizens with qualified trade experience. Foreign citizens who wish to immigrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Trade Program must first express their interest through the Federal Express Entry Selection System. The FSTC enables persons with a valid work offer or qualifying certificate to acquire permanent residence in any province or territory other than Quebec in Canada.
Eligibility based on selection factors such as,
- Live outside Canada,
- Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in skilled trade occupation within the 5 years before you apply,

Quebec Skilled Worker (QSW)
The Quebec Skilled Worker QSW program is a selection system designed to identify immigration candidates who are most likely to become economically established in the province.
- To receive their Immigration Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ), the applicant must apply to Immigration Quebec.
- Applicants then apply to receive their permanent resident visa from the federal government.
- An applicant can include their spouse and there dependent children whereas additional points are awarded to accompanying family members.
You must score enough points under the selection factors of Quebec Immigration described below to qualify for a CSQ. A single (unmarried) applicant must score at least 50 points based on this system, while at least 59 points must be scored by a applicant with a wife or common law partner.
